Designer's Note: Every schoolgirl sampler has its own unique qualities and B. Hollander’s is no different. If you look closely, there is something different on that first line right below the top border. This is one of the few samplers known to have been stitched by a Jewish girl, based on the inclusion of the Hebrew alphabet at the top. Information about the language is included with the pattern. This sampler is in the collection of the National Museum of American History, part of the Smithsonian, and is being reproduced with their permission.
