Designer's Note: The pincushion shown here was stitched by Bobchi, my Ukrainian grandmother, over 20 years ago as a small token of love for an in-law. Last month, when my aunt went to her sewing basket to repair a button hole, she came across her well-loved and well-used pincushion and shared this photo in our family group chat. I know Bobchi would be so pleased to see that her small gift is still in use today -- not just holding pins, but bringing smiles and reminders of the simple power of love and care for others.
This pattern was originally released as a fundraising pdf - all proceeds from this pattern from May 2022-May 2025 were donated to the International Rescue Committe. This pattern is now available as a free download, but I encourage you to visit rescue.org to find out more about supporting IRC's relief work around the world.
